Way back in the early 1970s an old friend of mine Roger Davies asked me if I
was interested in helping out on a low powered am station he was running
called Radio Cyclone I agreed and my dj career as it is, started…
Radio Cyclone carried for a while till he started the much loved
East London Radio and I was roped in to that as well … I later went on to join
North London Radio Radio Veronica 96.3fm. Radio Shoestring in East London,
Hits FM, Veronica Supergold and the much lamented Music Machine which I
still think is a great concept, well done to Gary Stevens for that.
I've worked on various RSL stations But for me one of the real high points was
when I got a call from steve Conway asking me if I wanted to join Radio Caroline.
unfortunately I was watching my beloved Spurs play Liverpool at Anfield and missed the call. I later met Steve at
Clacton and he said "I remember you, you were the guy who had gone to the football match, what happened ?"
I said "we lost 1-0 !!!"
I've since swopped the bright lights of London for the concrete cows of Milton Keynes who are very pretty to look at but bloody hard to get any milk out of. I love doing shows on Offshore Music Radio, it is real fun which for me,
present day radio has forgotten about
A true gentleman and friend who loved radio and will be missed by all 1955 -2009 |
